How Many Different Types of Beagles Are There?
To start with the Beagle breed, like any other breed, has undergone various changes and developments over the years. The different types can change every year.
Surprisingly, there are only two recognized types of Beagles according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). However, there are various mixed breed Beagles, each with their unique features and characteristics.

According to the AKC, there are only two official types of Beagles. (Now this is according to size)
They include:
- Beagle sizes between 13–15 inches
- Beagle sizes under 13 inches at the shoulder
This measurement refers to how tall the Beagles are at the shoulder. Despite the difference in size, both types share the same physical characteristics and personality traits that Beagles are known for.
Now what are those two official beagles?
1. Beagle

This might sound odd however, the sign of a purebred beagle is its white-tipped tail. A pure-bred beagle will always have a white tail. If it doesn't have a white tail then it is not, purebred.
